Akmal Ata Director, Golden Galaxy Group
Akmal Ata is the Director of Golden Galaxy Group and a seasoned entrepreneur with extensive experience in commercial development, retail construction, and franchise operations across Alberta. Since 2006, he has played a key leadership role in developing and managing multiple business verticals under the Galaxy Group of Companies, including Galaxy Developments, Galaxy Builders, Galaxy Food, and Galaxy Storage.
With strong oversight in project execution, tenant coordination, and operational planning, Akmal has been instrumental in delivering successful retail plazas and commercial developments along major trade corridors, including Highway 2, and in key markets such as Edmonton and north of Calgary. His hands-on leadership style ensures that each project meets strict standards of quality, compliance, and operational readiness.
Under his leadership, Golden Galaxy Group has collaborated with leading national and international brands, including: Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Tim Hortons, Burger King, Dairy Queen, Edo Japan, Mr. Sub, Esso, and Shell. These partnerships reflect the company’s reputation for excellence in construction, tenant delivery,
and long-term asset performance.
In addition to commercial development, Akmal is actively involved in franchise ownership and operations, including multiple Wendy’s restaurant locations in Edmonton. His dual expertise in construction and operations gives Golden Galaxy Group a unique advantage in delivering retail spaces that are not only well-built, but also optimized for business success.
Akmal holds a degree in Textile Engineering from Ivanovo State University. His technical education reinforces his structured, disciplined, and detail-driven approach to leadership, project management, and strategic growth.
Simran Kaler President - Golden Galaxy Group
Simran Kaler serves as the President of Golden Galaxy Group, bringing over seven years of hands-on experience in commercial construction and project leadership across Alberta. With an Engineering degree from the University of Calgary, he has led and delivered construction projects for some of Canada’s most recognized retail and energy brands.
His portfolio includes projects for leading brands such as:
Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Tim Hortons, Burger King, Dairy Queen, Edo Japan, Mr. Sub, Esso, and Shell.
Simran’s role focuses on overseeing day-to-day project execution, coordinating trades and subcontractors, managing schedules and budgets, and ensuring that every development meets engineering standards, brand-specific requirements, and regulatory compliance. His leadership ensures consistent delivery of projects that are operationally efficient, structurally sound, and brand-aligned.
Under his leadership, Golden Galaxy Group has strengthened its reputation for precision, efficiency, and reliability across retail and mixed-use developments. Having served as Project Manager at Golden Galaxy Developments since 2016, Simran brings deep technical expertise combined with strong site-level leadership to every project.
His previous experience includes roles with Mayco Industries, SKF Group, and Teck Resources, where he developed a strong foundation in operational planning, asset management, and engineering execution. This experience continues to shape his disciplined approach to project delivery, with a focus on long-term performance, safety, and client satisfaction.
